EBCC Named "Champion In Action"

October 15, 2009

On Octboer 15, Citizens Bank and NBC 10 named the Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center as their 2009 fourth quarter Champion in Action in the violence prevention category. Sharing the podium with Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian, and NBC 10 reporter, Mario Hilario, Ned Handy, president of Citizens Bank, Rhode Island, presented agency Executive Director Judy Earle with a check for $25,000 to support the Center's work. During the presentation, Mr. Handy said, "It is admirable when an agency shows such committment to a casue and makes a positve impact in its' community like the EBCC has over the past 30 years. The Center's dedication to support not only domestic violence victims, but also sexual abuse and elder abuse victims demonstrates their relentless devotion." In addition to the $25,000 gift, EBCC will receive media coverage from NBC 10, volunteer support from both Citizens and NBC 10, and extensive public relations and promotional support. We are especially pleased by the recognition on the front of the new promotional material regarding EBCC - "Not your typical commitment to violence prevention."
